Assistant Course
Children aged 3 to 6 attend the Montessori Children’s House. Prepared adults and a prepared environment play an important role in the child’s development. In the AMI Montessori 3-6 Assistant Course, the theory learned in the Orientation Course is put into practice. These can be applied both at home and in the classroom.

* Overview of the Montessori
prepared environment for ages 3-6
* The role of the guiding adult
* The role of the assistant
* Activities suitable for the role
of the assistant (observation, activities
with spoken language, listening to the children,
the adult as a role model for the children,
grace and courtesy, activities for music and art)
* Supporting functional independence
* Montessori materials (material preparation,
material maintenance, presentation techniques)
* Maintaining the environment
* Communication with the guiding adult
in the environment
A course for assistants
The AMI Montessori 3-6 Assistant Course is suitable for people who work (or would like to work) in a Montessori children’s house and for those who would like to integrate Montessori education into their daycare or kindergarten. In particular

The course will be held in German with English translation provided.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The AMI Assistant Course for the age group 3-6 years is offered as a supplement to the AMI Orientation Course for the age group 3-6 years. An AMI Montessori 3-6 Orientation Course certificate is a prerequisite for attending the AMI Montessori 3-6 Assistant Course.

Our trainer
István Szurkos was born and raised in northeastern Hungary. Today, he lives and works in the German-speaking part of Switzerland. After moving from Hungary to Switzerland in 2009, he continued his education in teaching. In addition to various university courses—including a teaching diploma for preschool and primary school and a master’s degree in early childhood studies—he completed AMI training for ages 3–6 and 6–12, as well as additional training in Montessori geragogy.
He has worked in various Montessori children’s houses, schools, and day schools. He currently works three days a week at a children’s house in Bern and is writing his dissertation on “Montessori and Gender.”
István is president of the German-Swiss International Montessori Training Center and offers various workshops and lectures on Montessori education. He sees Montessori as a universal educational method that can be successfully applied regardless of age, culture, or social background.
In his free time, István enjoys traveling the world, spending time with family and friends, and playing sports. He is a big fan of classic detective stories, especially Agatha Christie’s Poirot and Miss Marple.
